A vibrant Tet (Vietnamese New Year) atmosphere at EDENSEE.
For many years, spring trips to Da Lat have become a cultural tradition for people in Saigon, especially those in the busy business community. As a native of Da Lat living far from home, I also look forward to Tet (Lunar New Year) so I can return to this cultural land with its fragrant flowers and fresh air.
From the late days of winter, Saigon tourists have been eager to “check in” to the cool weather and the vibrant flower carpets spread across the city of pine trees. Spring seems to give Da Lat a new look; the city no longer has the melancholic beauty of early winter, but instead is bathed in the bright yellow of sunshine and the fresh pink of flowers. In the morning, upon waking up, you will see sunlight playing on the window frame, spreading across the vast pine forests, and dancing on the tranquil surface of Tuyen Lam Lake.

Da Lat is also a place where people still preserve traditional Tet customs. At the end of the twelfth lunar month, the flower and fruit markets are bustling day and night. Motorbikes loaded with chrysanthemums, roses, and other flowers come and go. At any time, you can linger at a hot soy milk stall near the market, quietly watching the busy crowds preparing for the New Year. Just a short distance from the city center, you’ll smell the fragrant aroma of Tet sweets carried on the wind. Pots of banh chung and banh tet (traditional rice cakes) are bubbling and steaming behind houses. Because of these ancient yet timeless rituals, no matter how far I travel, I always long to return to Da Lat for Tet.
